Application Process
In order to apply for International Business Studies at Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University the foreign candidate with a secondary school leaving certificate from the country which has signed the agreement regarding the recognition of certificates with Poland submits the following documents:
 
1)      either a secondary school leaving certificate validated by the appropriate national authority in the country of issuing or a secondary school leaving certificate with the Apostille;
2)      translation of the certificate made by a sworn translator;
3)      copy of passport (page with the photograph and personal data);
4)      medical certificate confirming eligibility for studies (if this document in issued outside Poland a sworn translation is required);
5)      4 photographs (size 35/45 mm), left side of the face has to be shown with left ear without an earring;
6)      application form (available on the AFMKU website: www.ka.edu.pl);
7)      application fee receipt (150 PLN if the candidate is planning to take a language entrance examination at the AFMKU or 100 PLN for the candidate who does not take the language entrance examination);
8)      confirmed copy of the English language certificate, but the orginal version has to be presented upon request (see below the section regarding the English language qualification whether this requirement applies).
 
 
Please note!
The candidate with a secondary school leaving certificate from the country which does not have an agreement regarding the recognition of certificates with Poland submits the same above-mentioned documents, but the secondary school leaving certificate in addition has to undegro a recognition process through the ‘nostrification’ procedure. Confirmation of the fact that the certificate is in the process of recognition also has to be submitted, too.
 
 
‘Nostrification’ of secondary school leaving certificates
According to the Polish regulations, a school certificate obtained abroad in a country that does not have an agreement on recognition of certificates with Poland has to be validated in the country in which it was issued and then presented to the kuratorium oświaty (local educational authority) in Poland, which is responsible for the ‘nostrification’.
 
 
The English language qualification
The prospective candidate is required to have the ample knowledge of the English language, which will have to be confirmed with one of the following language certificates in order to be enrolled for the studies without the necessity to undergo entrance language examination at the Krakow University:
 
 
List of diplomas, certificates proving knowledge of foreign language:
1) a diploma of completion of
a) a foreign language philology or applied linguistics faculty,
b) a foreign language teacher training college,
c) higher education studies abroad ( language of instruction is taken into consideration),
d) National School of Public Administration
 
2) a  certificate of passing of a departamental exam

a)  in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

b)  in the Ministry of Economy,

c)  in the Ministry of National Defense –  starting from STANAG 6001 level 4444

 

3) a language certificate issued by National School of Public Administration  

4) a language  certificate issued between 25 August 1997 and 14 January 1998 by the Departmental Examination Board of Foreign Languages of the Civil Service (Resortowa Komisja Egzaminacyjna Języków Obcych Urzędu Służby Cywilnej),
 
 5)  following certificates or attestations
- First certificate in English (FCE), Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), Business English Certificate (BEC) Vantage – at least Pass, Business English Certificate (BEC) Higher, Certificate in English for International Business and Trade (CEIBT) – certificates issued by University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate and by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.
-  International English Language Testing System IELTS – over 6 points – certificates issued by University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, the British Council and Education Australia.
-  Certificate in English Language Skills (CELS) – levels "Vantage" (B2) and "Higher" (C1).
-  Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - at least 510 pointsin Paper Based Test, at least 180 points in Computer Based-Test and at least 3,5 points from the Test of Written English (TWE) – issued by Educational Testing Service, Princeton, USA.
-  English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) - First Class Pass at Intermediate Level, Higher Intermediate Level, Advanced Level – issued by City & Guilds Pitman Qualifications (Pitman Qualifications Institute).
-  International English for Speakers of Other Languages (IESOL) – Communicator, Expert , Mastery levels– issued by City & Guilds (City & Guilds Pitman Qualifications).
-  City & Guilds Level 1 Certificate in ESOL International (reading, writing and listening) Communicator (B2) 500/1765/2; City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in ESOL International (reading, writing and listening) Expert (C1) 500/1766/4; City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in ESOL International (reading, writing and listening) Mastery (C2) 500/1767/6 – issued by City & Guilds.
-  Spoken English Test (SET) for Business - Stage B level "Communicator", Stage C level "Expert", Stage C level "Mastery" – issued by City & Guilds (City & Guilds Pitman Qualifications).
-  English for Business Communications (EBC) - Level 2, Level 3 – issued by City & Guilds (City & Guilds Pitman Qualifications).
-  English for Office Skills (EOS) - Level 2 – issued by City & Guilds (City & Guilds Pitman Qualifications).
-  Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) – at least 700 points from test issued by Educational Testing Service, Princeton, USA.
-  London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI): English for Business Level 2, English for Business Level 3, English for Business Level 4 – certificates issued by London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations Board.
-  London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) - Foundation Certificate for Teachers of Business English (FTBE) – certificate issued by London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations Board.
-  B2 Certificate in English - advantage, B2 Certificate in English for Business Purposes - advantage, Certificate in English for Technical Purposes (B2) – exams TELC (The European Language Certificates) administred by WBT Weiterbildungs-Testsysteme GmbH or telc GmbH; telc English B2, telc English B2 Business, telc English B2 Technical, telc English C1 – issued by telc GmbH.
- London Tests of English, Level 3 (Edexcel Level 1 Certificate in ESOL International); London Tests of English, Level 4 (Edexcel Level 2 Certificate in ESOL International); London Tests of English, Level 5 (Edexcel Level 3 Certificate in ESOL International) – issued by Edexcel; administred by Pearson Language Assessments or Pearson Language Tests.
-  Certyfikat Krakowskiego Towarzystwa Edukacyjnego Sp. z o o.o.- The Krakow Educational Society Certificate attesting language proficiency at B2 level.

The decision concerning admission for the studies upon the analysis of the candidate’s documentation is undertaken by the Faculty Recruitment Commission. The candidate admitted for studies is required to cover the registration fee (395 PLN), tuition fee (2 100 PLN per semester) and signing the agreement with the Krakow University. 
Application deadline for International Business Studies is 25 September 2012. It is advised to start the procedure at least four months before the deadline especially if the candidate requires a student visa since it may take up to three months before it is issued.
